I had an absurd amount of fun this at PAX this weekend helping Ben and Clinton from Tin Man Games demo their latest, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain.
Essentially, the team at Tin Man has taken Steve Jackson's classic Fighting Fantasy gamebook from the 1980s and built it up into a full 3D adventure. It plays more than anything like a solo D&D campaign, with a combat system torn right from the tabletop. The spirit of the original book shines through like crazy (they even hired the original artist, Russ Nicholson, to do new additional illustrations), but the finished product is polished as hell and crazy fun to play.
It's out now on Steam! Buy it if you like things that are great!
Just so the above video makes any kind of sense, I should explain that in addition to my Chooseomatic gig, I also write and draw Conspiracy Friends, a daily webcomic.
Conspiracy Friends Book Two: The Weird Turn Pro is ready to be printed, and we've launched a Kickstarter to make it happen! You can get your copy of the book, plus Book One if you don't have it already, as well as a custom print of your favorite CF comic and additional swag. And if we meet the first stretch goal, we're even doing a sweet limited edition hardcover. TELL THE WORLD
What’s better than Chooseomatic Books? FREE Chooseomatic Books! Our Kickstarter will fund an 80-page Chooseomatic that will be given away in game shops as part of Free RPG Day on June 21st. It will contain roughly a third of our upcoming third book, Time Travel Dinosaur.
Free RPG Day is an annual event designed to promote gaming and get new players into their local game shops. Depending on the level of funding, we’ll print between 700 and 7,000 copies, which will be distributed to participating game shops and handed out completely free of charge as part of this year’s event.
It's your first chance to order Time Travel Dinosaur, and Conspiracy Friends Book One, Clandestine Maneuvers in the Dark. And all the profits go to printing free books!
I shot this Kickstarter video for my friend Scott Gable at Broken Eye Books (look for a cameo appearance by my hand at the end), and also did some of the cover design! Broken Eye has some amazing books on the schedule for the coming year (including like two and a half from the spectacular Clinton Boomer, who you've probably heard me rave about before).
Please check it out, and if the books look up your alley, support like the wind!
